It’s great to finally have our new home on Elland Road. It’s been a long road this season and the guys have stuck with it through thick and thin, so it’s great for them to be rewarded with such a fantastic new facility. Unfortunately the first home game didn’t go our way, but I thought at times we played very well and were in the ascendancy. Credit to Sheffield who took their chances clinically, but sometimes you run in to a hot goalie and I think that was the case for us on Friday night.

“The players and I would like to thank all of the fans that came down and helped create such a fantastic atmosphere. It was great to see some of the familiar faces that have traveled up and down the country with us, mixed in with lots of enthusiastic newcomers. It seems like the interest is definitely there in Leeds, and it’s an exciting time for the Chiefs and the sport as a whole.

Looking forward to this weekend, we welcome the league leading Telford Tigers to Elland Road on Saturday night. They’re a top team with lots of depth and talent, and deservedly sit at the top of the table. The last time we met, we managed to take the 2 points after a thrilling game that ended in a shootout, and this games promises to be another barn burner. It’s really important that we get on a roll and finish the season on a high, and if we play to our potential there’s still a chance that we can qualify for the end of season playoffs, which would be an incredible achievement after such a roller-coaster campaign.

We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday night and hope to give you all plenty to cheer about.

Go Chiefs!”

Coach Sam.
