Sam’s reaction to the weekends games, Saturday in Telford and Sunday in Blackburn against Sheffield Steeldogs
I liked our game in Telford, liked how we played we were maybe a little unfortunate with some of the goals, battled right until the end and then against the Steeldogs, it was just the complete opposite.
We had a few too many passengers, we didn’t match their work-rate, we didn’t match their compete level that they brought and that is frustrating because I don’t think we’re that far off that team to be fair, but we need everybody to be going full-on in order to match them and we didn’t quite have that.
To be honest, it’s probably been coming. The last two weeks or so we’ve been maybe getting a bit sloppy, been getting away with it, I think Gossy’s been bailing us out at times and giving us more of a chance to win, obviously he wasn’t here tonight but Finney was in tonight for us and made some huge saves, especially in the third period and he gave us a chance to win but, on the whole, we just didn’t quite have it.
We’ve got a group who from day one have bought in. I’m not going to lie to you it has been tough, it’s been really tough at times and it has all probably brought us closer together and that stings because that wasn’t the performance we wanted for our first home game, we had a fair few fans here and we’re all a bit disappointed with the effort that we put in there – all credit to Sheffield, they deserved to win, we didn’t get close enough to them on the night.
