LEEDS CHIEFS are delighted to announce the return of forward Joe Coulter for the 2020-21 NIHL National season.
Joe proved a big success in his first season south of the border having moved from his home town of Dumfries where he had spent his career playing for Solway Sharks.

Made an alternate captain by player-coach Sam Zajac, Joe, 25, posted 20 points in 43 games, including seven goals, and was one of just three Chiefs’ players – along with the coach and fellow Scot Steven Moore – to play in every single game in the team’s debut season. Sam said he is expecting Joe to blossom further after agreeing terms to return for a second season at Elland Road Ice Arena. “I was really happy with the full package Joe brought in last season, not just on the ice but as one of the leaders in the dressing room, too,” said Zajac. “He’s a big presence and a big personality – I’m delighted he’s coming back for another year and I know the fans will be, too. “He embraced the challenge of leaving Solway for the first time in his career and really grew into playing down here the longer the season went on. “He’s somebody who you can put out there in any situation and he proved to himself and everyone else down here that he’s definitely capable of competing at this level. “I’m expecting him to kick on and improve even more next season. You forget that he is only 25, so he still has his best years ahead of him.”

Joe said there was never any doubt about coming back to the Chiefs once talks began about a second season in West Yorkshire. “It was such an easy decision for me,” he said. “It was a fun locker room to be part of and I had some great team-mates. “I think as a team we’ve got a point to prove this time around and there really will be no excuses. “With the team Sammy is putting together I genuinely believe that we will be competing up the top end of the table. “I enjoyed the challenge last season and I can’t wait
to get going again at Elland Road and get those fans behind us!”
