Leeds Chiefs are happy to announce their latest signing for the 2020-2021 NIHL National campaign, and its a familiar face with the return of popular defenceman Lewis Baldwin.
Despite being just 21 years of age, ‘Baldy’ has a wealth of experience, including time spent with Manchester Phoenix and Sheffield Steeldogs in the EPL, and with the Glasgow Clan in the EIHL.
Baldwin is coming off the back of a productive first season in Chiefs colours, where he ended as the teams second top points scorer with 13 goals and 21 assists, and player-coach Sam Zajac was understandably delighted to have him back for a second season.
“Lewis was a key player for us in all situations last year. He brings a lot of offense from the back end and logged some big minutes for us. He has an elite level shot and is a dangerous weapon on the powerplay, and he is more than willing to put his body on the line in the defensive zone”, said Zajac, “Lewis is one of the most committed young players I have come across and I know he has been putting in the hard yards this summer ready to take his game to the next level when the season gets started. We’re looking to build a younger, faster Chiefs for the coming season and he fits the bill perfectly.”
Baldwin was also ecstatic with signing on the dotted line for another season in Leeds, and he added: “I can’t wait to be back in a Chiefs jersey, looking forward to seeing everyone and building on what we started last year”.
